A Gallery and Showcase web for Artists on the web
Outside In was set up in 2006 to provide a platform for artists who find it difficult to access the art world either because of mental health issues, disability, health, social circumstance or because their work does not conform to what is normally considered as art. Outside In has no set creative criteria, boundary in art process or limit on subject for the artists that choose to align themselves with the project. Building on Outside In 2007 and 2009, the Outside In National 2012 will provide an opportunity for artists from across the United Kingdom to create an online gallery and to submit two pieces of work for an exhibition at Pallant House Gallery (from 27th October 2012 – 3rd February 2013) and also at several regional exhibitions in 2013. The project has several key elements including a National Open art competition, a dedicated website with online gallery and training and professional development opportunities for artists facing barriers to the art world.
Marc Steene, Head of Learning and Community at Pallant House Gallery set up Outside In in 2006 and oversees the project. Jennifer Gilbert is the Project Coorindator and manages Outside In. Lucy Greenfield is the Outside In Project Worker who deals directly with artists providing support and advice.
They also publish their monthly bulletin pact with information of all kinds artists are looking for.
